For the first time since its inception 10 years ago, the Druid City Arts Festival will take place over the course of two days when it returns to Tuscaloosa in April.

Don Staley, the CEO of Tuscaloosa Tourism and Sports, announced the change Friday morning, saying DCAF 2019 will be the best the festival has ever been.

“For our tenth anniversary we really wanted to create something special for Tuscaloosa,” Staley said. “This will be our biggest and best DCAF. We will have more art, more music, more food vendors, and more kid-friendly activities than ever. The quality of the art is higher than it’s ever been and we are adding plenty of interactive experiences for kids and adults alike.”

The festival, which is free to attend, is scheduled to take place at Government Plaza Friday, April 5, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., and Saturday, April 6, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

More than 90 artists are registered to attend and sell their paintings, photos, sculptures, pottery and more. Staley also said eight bands are signed up to play live music Friday and Saturday.

This year's festival will feature a tie-dye station where kids can create their own T-shirts as well as booths where attendees can adopt dogs through the West Alabama Humane Society and the Tuscaloosa Metro Animal Shelter.

"Tuscaloosa Tourism and Sports’ goal is to position DCAF as a premiere arts and music festival, while also educating, engaging, and inspiring youth and adults about arts and humanities within the community," TTS said in a press release.
