Kansas City forced five turnovers, and the Chiefs beat the Eagles, 26-16, in Philadelphia on Thursday night. Kansas City (3-0) remained undefeated under head coach Andy Reid, who made his first return trip to the city in which he coached for 14 seasons. The Chiefs led 16-6 at halftime after Philadelphia (1-2) turned the ball over four times in the first half.

Alex Smith threw for 273 yards for Kansas City, with receiver Donnie Avery catching seven passes for 141 yards. Chiefs’ running back Jamaal Charles had 20 carries for 92 yards and a score that gave his team a 23-9 lead in the fourth quarter.

LeSean McCoy carried 20 times for 158 yards and a touchdown that rallied Philadelphia to within seven points late. Eagles’ quarterback Michael Vick had three turnovers, and he was sacked five times — including 3.5 times by the Chiefs’ Justin Houston.

At halftime, the Eagles retired the No. 5 of Donovan McNabb, the quarterback who became the team’s career leader in passing yards, attempts, completions and touchdowns under Reid.
