A frightening scene Monday afternoon around 5 p.m., as a car crashed through the front door of a Dollar General store in Northport. According to a report, 3 people were injured.

Questions remain on what happened to cause the vehicle to hop the curb, crash through the front door and plow over merchandise before stopping.

It's the Dollar General off McFarland Boulevard in Northport in the Northwood Crossing Shopping Center. Publx is located here, as is another store which also had the same kind of accident happen last summer. It was July of 2015 when a car crashed into the Rite Aid Pharmacy, located just a few doors down from today's accident.

WIAT-TV reports 1 injured person was airlifted to UAB for "serious injuries." They're also reporting the driver suffered injuries, none life threatening.

Jennifer Edwards of ABC 33/40 tweeted a couple of photos from the crash scene, as authorities on the scene investigate the accident.
