When I hear Dr. Martin Luther King’s name the first thing that comes to my mind is “I Have A Dream”.   Dr. King’s “I Have A Dream” speech, Nobel Peace Prize lecture and “Letter from a Birmingham Jail” are among the most respected speeches and writings in the English language. Dr. King achieved more progress toward racial equality in America in just 13 short years than had been achieved in the previous 350 years.  When I turn on the TV today or read the newspaper I wonder what and how Dr. King would address all the violence and the senseless killings happening in our communities today.  Dr. King was an advocate of non-violence.

He is the only non-president to have a national holiday dedicated in his honor and is the only non-president memorialized on the Great Mall in Washington.  Listen to Dr. Kings “I Have A Dream” speech.
