85-Year-Old Man Shot And Killed In Home Invasion

An 85-year-old man was found inside his home about 1:16 a.m. suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The man identified as Curtis Thornton Rudd was killed early this morning during a home invasion in Lee County.

East Alabama Medical center paramedics and Lee County sheriff’s deputies responded to Rudd’s home in the 3000 block of Lee Road 177 in Cusseta. He was rushed to East Alabama Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 2:05 a.m.

Rudd’s wife told investigators she and her husband were awaken by the door being forced open. Rudd exchanged gunfire with the two intruders before they fled.
