A UAB Doctor Surprised His Patient With Tickets To The Sugar Bowl

Brandon Smith, a Birmingham police officer who was seriously injured when he was hit by a drunk driver while he was helping a stranded motorist in May, got a real serious surprise from the doctor who had been helping with his recovery.

This accident happened about the same time off-duty Birmingham police Officer Keary Hollis was shot and killed not far away.

Smith was on five bowl games at Ohio State University.

Dr. Brent Ponce who performed one of Smith’s surgeries surprised him with tickets to the Sugar Bowl.  Read more al.com
