Most people in West Alabama have been spectators for at least one performance of the Alabama Blues Project.  On Friday, the organization held its final performance for its summer camp, and I was there to witness it.

Why was I there?

My daughter, nieces, and cousin (who might as well be my niece) participated in the camp in addition to other children from the Summer Impact Day Camp program.  I've always been impressed with the Alabama Blues Project and how participants are taught to play various instruments in addition to amazing vocalists. So, sitting through their performances are somewhat delightful and don't give me the feeling of dread like, "Oh Lord. Here come those children again."

Here's a snippet of one of their classes.  Ironically, my daughter and I had just returned from a trip to  "Sweet Home" Chicago.

Of course, I had to attend her first stage performance, outside of church and gymnastics

This is as much as I could get before my phone decided to stop recording:

Sooo... I've been working with her for a good while, but can the Alabama Blues Project teach rhythm? My child needs it.
