Alabama 7th and 8th graders may have 70 new teachers! The Alabama Senate Finance and Taxation Education Committee gave a favorable report a 2016 education budget that some members saw first the first time at today’s meeting.

The $5.9 billion budget which is similar to last year’s allows for the hiring of 70 new teachers.

Alabama Education Association’s revenue and funding manager, Susan Kennedy said funding new teacher in middle school is important because according to studies much of a students’ future success and whether they complete high school is determined in that age-range.  Read more here at al.com
