As many college football programs try to deal with the rising cost of coaching contracts and the drops in attendance, The University of Alabama posted a profit for the 10th consecutive year, and it's a healthy one.

According to AL.com, the Crimson Tide football program generated $53.3 million in revenues for the 2013-14 fiscal year. That amount represented a 13 percent increase from the previous year despite coaching salaries rising by more than $1 million.

Here are some of the biggest changes from the past year:

  • Ticket sales were down nearly $1.3 million
  • Contributions rose by nearly 10%
  • Broadcast (TV/radio) revenue up by more than 25%
  • Licensing/Royalties up 250%
  • Team travel expenses were down 26%

Behind the success of the football program, the entire athletic department combined saw total revenues of $33 million.
