Alabama went a log way to pull its latest football recruit. Nick Saban staff found out Monday night that quarterback Tua Tagovailoa decided to play college football a long way from his home in Hawaii.

The four-star prospect for the class of 2017 made the announcement on his local news in Honolulu, which you can watch in the video above. Tagovailoa said the hospitality in Alabama reminded him a lot of the island.

“The hospitality is kind of like Hawaii. I feel like I’m home over there. Everybody on Sunday goes to church and that’s something that is big in my life as far as spirituality and I couldn’t ask for anything better,” Tagovailoa told KHON2.

The left-handed passer will bring a dual-threat attack to Alabama. As a junior last season, Tagovailoa led his team in passing (2,916 yards) and rushing (448 yards) and 35 total touchdowns.

We caught up with Rivals recruiting analyst Andrew Bone about the commitment and what it means to the Crimson Tide.
