Alabama Man Fakes Kidnapping To Get Money From Grandmother

An Alabama man faked his own kidnapping in an effort to extort money from his grandmother.

Preston Kelly, 23 of Florence, Alabama texted his grandmother a disturbing picture of himself tied up to a tree in some Tennessee woods. The text sent earlier this week, also demanded $1,000 or else he would be killed.

Instead of complying with the text, Kelly's grandmother contacted local authorities in a panic. After an investigation, police concluded that Kelly set his own grandmother up to get money from her. He still says that he was kidnapped.

Kelly was eventually booked and charged with first-degree extortion. He is a coincidentally being held on $1,000 bond.

That's so crazy how you can do something like that to your own family. Not only that, she's an older woman; she could have had a heart attack and died!
