Tuscaloosa residents are counting the days until the popular bridge reopens. Crews are now in the final stages of completing repairs to the Alberta Bridge on University Boulevard East.

The Alabama Department of Transportation says the bridge should be open to traffic on or around Nov. 7. Residents say they are tired of having to take detours to get to McFarland Boulevard and the downtown area and according to wiat.com, Alabama fans use this bridge to get to the interstate before and after the game.

ALDOT said crews are now focusing on final paving and striping, as well as finishing a concrete wall. The work on the bridge was necessary after the April 27, 2011, tornado.
