Wednesday, hundreds of phone calls flowed through Tuscaloosa air with people wanting to know: WHAT IN THE WORLD IS GOING ON ON HIGHWAY 69???

Unsuspecting motorists were late for work and other appointments. Others were simply perturbed with sitting in their air conditioned vehicles, made null by the fact that the sun was beaming down.

Turns out, road construction was the culprit, with traffic being merged into one lane, and now, the Alabama Department of Transportation has announced another area of road work.

Thursday and Friday, June 30 and July 1, repair will be done on I-359 Northbound and Southbound between mile marker 0 and 1. The work will be done between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and noon Friday.

The left lane on both sides will be closed. Alternate routes are encouraged, but if not feasible, motorists should adjust arrival and departure times as speed limits will also vary. Extreme caution is necessary when traveling through this area.
