Changes could be coming to Highway 82 on Coker near the site of an accident in which a man was killed on October 22.

According to Fox 6, the Alabama Department of Transportation is looking to possibly permanently close the median on Highway 82, across from the Sam Sutton Road intersection. This comes after a number of fatal accidents and residents' expressed concerns about the safety at the intersection.

Other changes being considered in the area include closing medians, adding turning lanes, and adding guardrails. However, none of the plans have been finalized. If they are approved, work could begin in the next six weeks and would be done by ALDOT.
