Just as sure as we’re born, we begin the aging process.  Many of us will reach years beyond our youth, and for some, this might include a decline in some of the areas we were once sharp such as strength, tolerance of differing temperatures, driving abilities, and more.

Unfortunately, some will deal with more serious ailments such as Alzheimer’s Disease, which is described as a type of dementia that causes problems with memory, thinking and behavior. Symptoms usually develop slowly and get worse over time, becoming severe enough to interfere with daily tasks.

For those who are unaware of the symptoms, interacting with a loved one who is entering the first stages of Alzheimer’s can be frustrating; but the more awareness is brought to the disease, the more likely we are to recognize it and still treat those dealing with it with the dignity they deserve.

With November being National Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month, Yarnai’s and Precious Memories have teamed up to present “A Night to Remember” Alzheimer’s Awareness Banquet on Sunday, November 18 at 5pm. The event, which will take place at the University Church of Christ, will benefit families with respite care.

Even if you cannot attend the banquet, donations are always welcome, as making sure caregivers receive necessary breaks is vital.
