You may want to ring in 2018 with scarves, mittens, and a warm overcoat-- frigid air is in the forecast for January 1st.

ABC 33/40 Chief Meteorologist James Spann's latest Facebook post suggests that we could see wind chill values in the single digits on New Year's Day.

The current forecast from the National Weather Service in Birmingham has Tuscaloosa's high at just 35 degrees and a frigid low of 18 degrees Monday.

We could also see rain and sleet on New Year's Eve, although James Spann seems to think that our chances of winter precipitation are becoming increasingly lower.

We'll continue to monitor the forecast and keep you up to date with the latest weather and traffic information.
