Are We Better Off Now?

It's America's Birthday and I wonder are we better off now versus 40-50 yrs ago? Sure we had the civil rights movement, womens liberation, men on the moon....an easier way of life, and living. No cell phones, no internet, no twitter, no facebook...I remember not so long ago there was no texting or anything. If you were not home , you just weren't home. If your mom was on the phone and a friend called, they got a busy signal.What happened to us with all this technology are we really better off now?
