Beyonce' dropped new music ahead of her weekend performance in the biggest sports event of the year. The music itself brought about mass hysteria, as fans and foes took over social media to share their opinions. But once she performed the song on the largest stage in the nation, all hysteria commenced.

For those who are still totally lost on what's going on, here's the song's official video. Pay close attention to the imagery as well as the lyrics.

Will this be the first time the imagery didn't match the lyrics perfectly? Of course not! (Remember Aaron Hall's "I Miss You?" The song asks, "What happened to those days? Did they all just fade away?" when the video distinctly shows that she died! Nothing fades with unexpected death. It's an abrupt end. Duh!)

But let's examine the lyrics to "Formation."

Y'all haters corny with that Illuminati mess
Paparazzi, catch my fly, and my cocky fresh
I'm so reckless when I rock my Givenchy dress (stylin')
I'm so possessive so I rock his Roc necklaces
My daddy Alabama, Momma Louisiana
You mix that negro with that Creole make a Texas bama
I like my baby hair with baby hair and afros
I like my negro nose with Jackson Five nostrils
Earned all this money but they never take the country out me
I got a hot sauce in my bag, swag

[Interlude: Messy Mya + Big Freedia]
Oh yeah, baby, oh yeah I, ohhhhh, oh, yes, I like that
I did not come to play with you h--s, haha
I came to slay, b---h
I like cornbreads and collard greens, b---h
Oh, yes, you besta believe it

[Refrain: Beyoncé]
Y'all haters corny with that illuminati mess
Paparazzi, catch my fly, and my cocky fresh
I'm so reckless when I rock my Givenchy dress (stylin')
I'm so possessive so I rock his Roc necklaces
My daddy Alabama, Momma Louisiana
You mix that negro with that Creole make a Texas bama
I like my baby hair with baby hair and afros
I like my negro nose with Jackson Five nostrils
Earned all this money but they never take the country out me
I got a hot sauce in my bag, swag

[Chorus: Beyoncé]
I see it, I want it, I stunt, yellow-bone it
I dream it, I work hard, I grind 'til I own it
I twirl on them haters, albino alligators
El Camino with the seat low, sippin' Cuervo with no chaser
Sometimes I go off (I go off), I go hard (I go hard)
Get what's mine (take what's mine), I'm a star (I'm a star)
Cause I slay (slay), I slay (hey), I slay (okay), I slay (okay)
All day (okay), I slay (okay), I slay (okay), I slay (okay)
We gon' slay (slay), gon' slay (okay), we slay (okay), I slay (okay)
I slay (okay), okay (okay), I slay (okay), okay, okay, okay, okay
Okay, okay, ladies, now let's get in formation, cause I slay
Okay, ladies, now let's get in formation, cause I slay
Prove to me you got some coordination, cause I slay
Slay trick, or you get eliminated

[Verse: Beyoncé]
When he f--k me good I take his a-- to Red Lobster, cause I slay
When he f--k me good I take his a-- to Red Lobster, cause I slay
If he hit it right, I might take him on a flight on my chopper, cause I slay
Drop him off at the mall, let him buy some J's, let him shop up, cause I slay
I might get your song played on the radio station, cause I slay
I might get your song played on the radio station, cause I slay
You just might be a black Bill Gates in the making, cause I slay
I just might be a black Bill Gates in the making

[Chorus: Beyoncé]
I see it, I want it, I stunt, yellow-bone it
I dream it, I work hard, I grind 'til I own it
I twirl on my haters, albino alligators
El Camino with the seat low, sippin' Cuervo with no chaser
Sometimes I go off (I go off), I go hard (I go hard)
Take what's mine (take what's mine), I'm a star (I'm a star)

[Bridge: Beyoncé]
Okay, ladies, now let's get in formation, I slay
Okay, ladies, now let's get in formation
You know you that bitch when you cause all this conversation
Always stay gracious, best revenge is your paper

In this song, Beyonce basically says that she is genuinely herself. Because she works hard to be successful, she has to be part of Illuminati? She expresses her pride in her heritage and says that she likes her baby's hair the way it is in addition to her man's nose, both of which are authentic to being black. Despite all of these criticisms, Beyonce is not going to change, and she is still killing the game! She doesn't have to come back against those who come at her because her success is doing the work for her.

Now how ANYBODY got anything remotely anti-police or anti-anything else from this is ludicrous. The imagery of the video indicates that even with her success, she is sensitive to current events and the plight of her people. It is indeed a breaking of silence, if any such silence ever existed.

Sometimes, people tend to think that entertainers are removed from the struggle, as if their success off the backs of their fans is all that matters and that those fans who are "in the struggle" are overlooked. The images in this video say, "I stand in solidarity with my people." It is a message to mainstream America that while her artistry is respected and admired, she's not a sellout. Again, Beyonce' is unapologetically black.... And country! She's proud of her southern roots.

Too many have the misconception that to be "pro" something means to be "anti" something else. Being pro-choice doesn't mean that a person believes others should terminate their pregnancies. It means they believe a mother should have that choice, as when life begins varies by interpretation. Even if a tribute of sorts to the Black Panther Party is what Beyonce' portrayed, that doesn't equate to being anti-police. The Black Panther Party was not anti-police. They were anti-police brutality! The group was not one of hate but of accountability. To find offense in a people determined to protect themselves from abuse is ridiculous. That's like telling a battered woman she shouldn't want to protect herself or her children from her abuser. Could there have been extremists within the party? Of course. But to condemn the entire organization as anti-police is akin to saying every Muslim is a terrorist.

Point made simple: To take offense for being FOR one's self as well as his or her people is ridiculous... And one's offense doesn't change the fact that Beyonce is just that and she will continue to be who she wants to be without apology.
