Bill Cosby Says Racism Could Be Behind Sexual Assault Charges

It’s been nearly three years since comedian Hannibal Burress made the world look at Bill Cosby‘s alleged sexual misconduct, and since then the 79 year-old has remained relatively quiet, not giving interviews to the press about the allegations.

But now he’s addressed the accusations and his criminal sexual assault case, agreeing with his daughter, Ensa, that racism may have something to do with it. During a recent interview, the host played a snippet of her comments claiming the charges against Cosby stem from racism.

“Could be, could be,” said Cosby when asked if he agreed, while on SiriusXM’s The Michael Smerconish Program. “I can’t say anything, but there are certain things that I look at, and I apply to the situation, and there are so many tentacles, so many different — nefarious is a great word. And I just truly believe that some of it may very well be that.”

As many know, over 60 women have come forward and accused the longtime comedian of sexual misconduct, but he said the high number is used as a tactic by the prosecution.

“I think that the numbers came, because the numbers prior to the numbers didn’t work,” Cosby explained. “So the piling on, so to speak is a way — and certainly an impressive, impressive way — to get public opinion to come to the other side.”

Cosby also said the case against him isn’t all motivated by race and suggested that some accusers want to get back at him because their careers didn’t go as planned.

“When you look at the power structure, and when you look at individuals, there are some people who can very well be motivated by whether or not they’re going to to work, or whether or not they might be able to get back at someone,” said Cosby.
