Birmingham Councilor Taken To Hospital After An Altercation With Mayor William Bell

According to WTVM a Birmingham city councilor and Birmingham’s Mayor were taken to the hospital after an altercation during Tuesday’s council meeting

Authorities say the altercation between Mayor William Bell and Councilor Marcus Lundy happened behind closed doors during the council meeting.

Mayor Bell was taken to the hospital by a private vehicle and Councilor Lundy was transported by an ambulance.

Council President Johnathan Austin said “This right here is ridiculous. This makes no sense. In a city that has so much hope and promise and with so much that we’ve overcome as a community. That we have the leader of our city, just because one council member doesn’t agree with something, wants to go and assault one of the members of the council. That is unfortunate, it is not right, and we are better than that as a city.”

According to Austin, Lundy plans press charges against the Birmingham Mayor.
