In February WTSK/WTUG aired Facts in Black History every day thanks to some wonderful students from around the area. Black history is something we should talk about every day. The past does shape the future. Here are a few Facts in Black History I want to share with you.

March 2, 1980 Thomas Hearns won the vacant USBA Welterweight title. Thomas Hearns was the Black fighter to win five titles in five weight classes.

March 2, 1962 Wilt Chamberlain set a record that will probably never be broken. He scored 100 points a single basketball game against the Philadelphia Warriors. Wilt is also the first player to score 3,000 points.

March 2, 1943 George Benson was born. The ten times Grammy Award Winner is responsible for such hits as “Masquerade” and “Breezin”. Just a few Black Facts for you.
