Black Music Month Salute To James Brown – “Say It Loud I’m Black & I’m Proud” [Video]

It is Black Music Month! While it is impossible to salute all the great black performers, songwriters, producers, and musicians there are a few that should be on everybody’s all-time greatest list.

One of those is “Mr. Dynamite”, “Soul Brother Number 1” and “The Godfather of Soul” James Brown.

In my opinion James Browns’, “Say It Loud I’m Black & I’m Proud” was one of the greatest and most important songs ever.  At the time it was released Negro’s as we were called then were searching for an identity.  We no longer wanted to be identified by the Negro label society had bestowed on us.

“Say It Loud I’m Black & I’m Proud” said it’s okay to be black and it’s okay to be proud of being black.
