Black Music Month Spotlight: The Bar-Kays
Continuing with the Black Music Month Spotlight I have listed my 5 favorite Bar-Kays songs. The Bar-Kays are out of my home town of Memphis Tn. They burst on the music scene as the road band for Otis Redding.
When Otis's plane crashed in 1967 four members of the group perished. The remaining members forged on to become one of the iconic funk bands of the 1970's.
The Bar-Kays continued to have hits on R&B charts well into the 1980s and 90's and through the 2000's.They are truly icons of black music that still perform to this day.
