Katherine Webb, perhaps the most famous girlfriend in the history of college football, made an appearance on the Today show on Wednesday morning. In an exclusive interview with Matt Lauer, Webb says she believes that no apology was necessary from ESPN for what some perceived as inappropriate comments made by Brent Musburger during the broadcast of the national championship game between Alabama and Notre Dame on Monday night.

Webb says she had little idea that she was the spark igniting a firestorm online as cameras focused upon her as she sat in the stands and watched boyfriend AJ McCarron and his Crimson Tide teammates obliterate the Fighting Irish. Now that she has learned that she was the object of Musburger’s admiration, she is more “flattered by the attention” than anything and that Musburger’s comments did not rise to the level of being disrespectful.
