Can You Give Me a Ride?

Remember when people would ask for a ride and offer a few dollars on gas?  As gas prices began to soar,  that was almost a thing of the past. 

Looks like we may be able to take our friends and neighbors on quick runs again.  This evening,  I stopped for gas and when I pulled up to the pump,  I noticed that the previous purchaser had gotten $3 in fuel.

I'm not in any way knocking that because I'm KNOWN to put only $10 in my tank,  but I had to wonder if $3 was an offering for a favor or maybe fuel for a mower.  All I know is if someone offers ME $3 on gas,  I'm taking 'em where they need to go.  Do you know how far $3 will go in a 4-cylinder?!?!
