In an email from the American Academy of Family Physicians, it is stated that a recent study conducted by Harris Interactive found that men may think they’re taking better care of themselves these days. However, more men have been diagnosed with a chronic condition compared to the same survey conducted in 2007. One doctor from right here in West Alabama has been selected to speak on behalf of doctors nationwide.

According to the American Academy of Family Physicians, Dr. John Meigs, Jr. has practiced family medicine in Centreville, Alabama, since 1982. He currently serves as chief of staff at Bibb Medical Center and president-elect of the American Academy of Family Physicians.

“Essentially, the survey shows that feeling good and being healthy are not necessarily the same thing,” said John Meigs, MD.

Dr. Meigs will be speaking with people across the nation concerning men's perception of their health, whether that perception reflects their true health, and what they can do to prevent health problems and improve their health.
