A former 7-year veteran Tuscaloosa police officer is suing the city, saying her civil rights were violated.
According to wbrc.com, In a lawsuit against the city of Tuscaloosa, Stephanie Hicks said she was demoted from her position on the West Alabama Narcotics Task Force and reassigned to the Tuscaloosa Police Department's patrol unit.

She said this happened after she took a 12-week maternity leave.

Hicks said, she was faced with a hostile work environment because she was pumping milk to breastfeed her child. She said the work environment forced her to quit.

Hicks is now suing the city of Tuscaloosa for what she claims is a violation of her civil rights. She's asking a jury to decide how much she should be awarded in damages.
