Gunmen thinking of shooting up college campus just might want to think again. The allowing of concealed carry at one institution could spread nationwide.

According to the Texas Tribune, licensed students at the University of Texas at Austin will be allowed to carry concealed weapons into the classroom next school year. However, they are prohibited from dorms, as most students who live in dorms aren't really old enough onto have a concealed carry license, other than in the following cases:

  • In common areas of dorms
  • Visiting family members
  • Dorm staff

Since the frequency of campus shootings has increased in recent years, is allowing concealed carry a good thing in case defense against an intruder is needed; or will the presence of handguns in classrooms increase the likelihood of gun violence in the classroom?
