I just read an article a lady wrote about how another flight passenger was especially nice and accommodating to her young, autistic daughter. (Click here to read it.)  While it was a great, attention capturing article, what caught my eye was a comment another reader made:

I know that it's nothing close to being Father's Day, but I just felt the need to take a moment to say, "Thank You" to the "Daddies" of the world that take the time to nurture a child, even if for a moment.  It is awesome to see a man take part in the life of a child, and it is even greater when that man is a committed head of his own family.

Everybody knows that I am one of my older brother's biggest cheerleaders. I watch him care for other people's children day after day and then go home to spend quality time with his wife and his own daughters.  He recently, wrote a two-part article for an online publication, where he talks about the importance of a father in the lives of his daughters.

The mother that wrote the "Dear Daddy" letter didn't specify whether or not her daughter's father is in her life, but it is obvious that the male passenger either has children of his own or he simply understands the importance of interacting with children, especially in possibly stressful situations.  I'm not sure how many other men would have been upset or bothered by a stranger's child talking to them through a flight, but a man who takes time with a child that's not his own is worth commending.
