De La Soul Drop Wu-Tang-Inspired Song ‘Get Away’

De La Soul hasn't released new music as a collective in nine years. Today (April 17), the legendary rap trio dropped a song inspired by the spirit of Wu-Tang Clan called 'Get Away.'

The song features a sample of the 'Intro' on Disc Two of 'Wu-Tang Forever,' boasting a gritty beat, neck-snapping snare and spacey sound effects. On the track, Posdnuos and Trugoy give today's rap artists a lesson on how to spit that lyrical fire.

"Some of them believe they are leaders / Young fella, you're a 2 liter / Simply water weight drowning out the source / This lesson is a line with an undergrad course," raps Trugoy.

Posdnuos spoke to Rolling Stone about the song:

I've always loved the ‘Intro’ on Disc Two of Wu-Tang Forever – this erie sample with no beat, that they only talked over, I stumbled on the original sample while crate digging one day, took it straight to the lab and added drums. The feel is definitely gritty, hard and sounds like a Wu record, so out of inspirational respect, we included featuring ‘The Spirit of the Wu’ in the song title." -- Posdnuos
