According to myfoxal.com the Tuscaloosa native and heavyweight boxer Deontay Wilder is facing a domestic battery charge in Nevada.

Police arrested the Olympic bronze medalist Saturday, May 4 in Las Vegas. Wilder's trainer, Jay Deas, tells the "Daily Mail" the he doesn't know details of the abuse charge but he promises to talk with Wilder and make sure he receives legal counsel. The domestic abuse by strangulation charge is classified as a B class or C class felony and a wide range of possible sentences are involved. If convicted, Wilder could face a fine and up to 20 years in prison.

Wilder is known as a former Tuscaloosa resident who drove a Budweiser delivery truck, worked hard and earned a bronze medal. He has said that his goal was to bring a heavyweight championship to Tuscaloosa.
