Dept. of Tourism Boasts Fall Colors

According to the Alabama Department of Tourism, its website now features a Fall Color Map, which allows visitors to see the predicted fall color change for each weekend this fall. Exciting news for those who love the fall season and watching the trees change colors.

Sometimes, we fail to see the beauty in our immediate surroundings, opting instead for locations seemingly more exotic such as snow-capped mountains and clear blue water with white waves crashing into white sand. But the nature of some of our trees make Alabama State Parks some of the best places to enjoy the fall color change. Some such scenic locations include the DeSoto State Park at Little River Canyon and DeSoto Falls, Monte Sano, and Cheaha's Bald Rock and Pulpit Rock .

The Alabama Department of Tourism website also includes a list of upcoming outdoor fall festivals including Cullman Oktoberfest (Oct. 7-11), the National Shrimp Festival in Gulf Shores  (Oct. 8-11), the Southern Reinvention festival at the Belle Chevre goat cheese creamery in Elkmont (Oct. 10), the 25th annual Thorsby Swedish Festival (Oct. 10), Mentone's Colorfest (Oct. 17-18), Alabama Frontier Days in Wetumpka (Nov. 4-7), the Frank Brown International Songwriters Festival along the Alabama Gulf Coast (Nov. 5-15), the National Peanut Festival in Dothan (Nov. 6-15), the 8th annual Oyster Cook-Off in Gulf Shores (Nov. 6-7) and the Pike Road Arts and Crafts Festival (Nov. 7).
