Doe B Laid to Rest, T.I. Speaks at Funeral [VIDEO]

Hundreds of mourners packed the True Divine Baptist Church in Montgomery, Ala. on Saturday (Jan. 4) to bid a final farewell to rapper Doe B. The 22-year-old artist was shot and killed last month during an altercation at a nightclub.

Funeral services for both Doe B (aka Glenn Lamar Thomas) and Kimberle Johnson, an innocent clubgoer who was also killed during the shooting, were both held at the same church.

Doe B’s funeral brought out a special guest, namely T.I. who signed the rapper to his label, Grand Hustle Records, in 2012. Doe B’s manager, DJ Frank White, was also in attendance.

“I knew how much love the city and state had for him,” he told the Montgomery Advertiser who covered the funeral. “They saw the bright future he had.”

During the service, the rapper’s mother, Shirley Thomas, eulogized her late son and recalled his huge appetite for her home cooked meals.

“I’m going to miss him coming in saying, ‘Lady, what you cooking?’ and I would say, ‘whatever you want to eat I’m going to cook it,’ ” she said. “He would say, ‘you know I love some of them chicken wings.’ He would have a whole crew with him and I’d have to cook enough for everybody.”

“I’m going to miss him so much,” she added.

T.I. also spoke highly of Doe B. The Atlanta rapper praised him for his maturity and work ethic. Tip also made a promise to mourners that Doe B’s legacy will live not go in vain.

“I want everybody to know that one thing I will never do, I will never let this man’s hard work go to waste,” he said. “I will never let his life be lived in vain. All of my resources, all of my relationships, all of my efforts, all of my energy will be put forth to make sure that his dream lives on.”

As Doe B was being remembered at his funeral, a third victim reportedly died from gunshot wounds he suffered from the Dec. 28 shooting. Timnorius Hamilton passed away Friday night (Jan. 3) at Baptist Medical Center South where he had been receiving treatment for his injuries.

Two men have been arrested and charged with two counts of murder in connection with the incident.

The Boombox wants to send prayers and condolences to all of the families who have been affected by this tragedy.

Rest in peace, Doe B. You will be missed.
