Drake Wins as ‘SNL’ Host, Watch His Best Skits [VIDEO]

Wow! What a night. Drake held his own as host and musical guest of ‘Saturday Night Live’ over the weekend. The Toronto native has convincingly showed audiences that he’s an affable rapper with great comedic chops.

First, Drake is a terrific impressionist. His caricature of funnyman Katt Williams, embattled baseballer Alex Rodriguez and Lil Wayne was nearly spot-on.

Speaking of Weezy, the ‘Hip-Hop Classics’ sketch, hosted by Kenan Thompson as Sway Calloway, was hilarious. The comedic bit featured rappers in their prior gigs as actors before they became rap superstars.

Drake’s impression of Jay Z was not his best but his impersonation of Drizzy F. Baby as Steve Urkel on ‘Family Matters’ was the highlight. Honorable mentions go to Rick Ross as a teletubby and Taran Killam’s dead-on impression of an angry-voiced Eminem.

We can’t forget to mention that it was also the debut of comedian Sasheer Zamata, the first black female cast member since Maya Rudolph left the show in 2007. The 27-year-old improv performer did a commendable job and we can expect more funny bits from her in the future.

As far as we’re concerned, Drake outdid himself on ‘SNL.’ The 27-year-old rhymer was charming, gracious and engaging.
