Sandal season is upon us, and here's a personal moment: lately, I've found that I am having to apply a moisturizer to my heels far more often than I used to. I can't just walk around with ashy heels. So, I decided to do look for a solution to my problem.

I came upon a little gem that provided the following tips as well as others:

  1. Wear properly fitting shoes- Lord knows I've put my feet into quite a few pairs of shoes that were too big because they were "too cute to pass up," but they didn't come in half sizes. So, I had to go one up. I should have just passed.
  2. Moisturize daily with a body lotion- I don't always add moisture because sometimes it makes me slide in my shoes. Sure, sliding that gives my legs an extra workout, but I guess it's a step I can't afford to neglect.
  3. Do a foot soak- I'm always on the go, but I guess on the days where I shower rather than sit in a bathtub, I can still let my feet soak in a pan while I work at my computer.
  4. Treat the feet overnight- When I was in college, I would cover my feet in petroleum jelly and sleep with socks on. I never had dry heels either.

It's funny how the smallest dismissals leave such lasting effects. Oh well. Time to make some changes. I think I'm going to try that foot soak and overnight treatment today. I'll let you know what happens tomorrow.
