The family members of Tamika Washington believe she was shot to death over the weekend in Fairfield because someone thought she had witnessed another shooting earlier in the day that wounded two people; one was an 8-year-old girl.

Tamika Washington was gunned down outside her home in the Demetrius Newton public housing community Saturday night.

According to her older sister Barbara Washington, Tamika did not witness the shooting that happened in the projects earlier, but someone thought she did.

The gunfire that killed Tamika happened about 9:30 p.m. She was shot in head and chest. Another woman was shot in hand and two other were injured running from the scene.

Tamika’s children are 9, 7, 4, and 2-years-old.
