When you are talking about the Michael Brown, Trayvon Martin and other cases of blacks being shot by police it is so easy to get into a heated debate about the right and wrongs.

It’s so easy to side with the media when they are saying what you want to hear.  The media reports in most cases especially cases like this are based on what they can get someone to tell them. They do very little investigating because they are in a rush to beat the competition.

The first account of these incidents other than someone loss their life is speculation and sensationalism.

Take the Michael Brown case for instance. It was reported that Michael Brown was shot while on his knees with his hands up begging for his life.  The evidence proved this wasn’t the case.

How can we avoid these situations? What can we do to make sure we don’t have the same fate if we have an encounter with the police?

In an open letter to black people published in Frost Illustrated a former black Alabama trooper expounds on how to avoid violent situations with police officers. Read the letter here at Frost Illustrated.
