It wasn't long ago that Tim Anderson excelled in basketball and baseball at Hillcrest High School in Tuscaloosa. Tonight, he'll make is Major League Baseball debut against the reigning World Series champions.

Anderson got the call up to the Chicago White Sox on Friday after hitting .304 with four home runs and 11 stolen bases for the Triple-A Charlotte Knights. He's expected to be in the lineup when the Sox host Kansas City tonight at 7:10 PM.

The shortstop has risen quickly through the minors after being selected 17th overall in the 2013 MLB Draft. Last year he broke out and earned recognition as one of the game's top young prospects after stealing 45 bases and batting .312 for the Birmingham Barons.

Anderson earned his opportunity after the White Sox designated veteran Jimmy Rollins for assignment earlier in the day.
