The folks at RoadSnacks.net recently released a list of the most redneck cities in Alabama with research based on the dictionary definition of the word. 

According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, a "redneck" is defined as,

A white person who lives in a small town or in the country especially in the southern U.S., who typically has a working-class job, and who is seen by others as being uneducated and having opinions and attitudes that are offensive.

To achieve the final results, they looked for other "redneck" stereotypes such as the number of places to fish, hunt, number of dive bars, tobacco stores, guns and ammo stores per city, and number of Walmart Supercenters.

Not only does Haleyville land at #2 on the list but they also rank #1 in the state with most Walmarts per capita!

After analyzing all 439 cities in Alabama, the 10 most redneck cities in our great state are:

  1. Dothan
  2. Haleyville
  3. Albertville
  4. Cullman
  5. Russellville
  6. Florence
  7. Clanton
  8. Moulton
  9. Boaz
  10. Wetumpka

Taking a closer look at the top 100 on their list, Fayette ranked 30th, Tuscaloosa 33rd, Centerville 41st, Berry 44th, and Northport 55th.

With all of this being said, your curiosity has to raised wondering what the least redneck cities in Alabama were. Well, according RoadSnacks.net those are:

  1. Vestavia Hills
  2. Mountain Brook
  3. Huntsville
  4. Montgomery
  5. Birmingham
