For a number of people who have to deal with the progressive death of a loved one, Hospice helped to make the process easier to bear. Aside from volunteer efforts, there are ways to make sure the same services are provided to others who need it.

Hospice of West Alabama is hosting its 7th Annual Family 5K on the campus of the Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center at 8:00 a.m. on March 26, 2016. Registration is $20 and will begin at 7 a.m. The "Stars in Our Hearts" race will begin at 8:00 a.m. Pre-registration is also available.

Participants will be allowed to run/walk in honor of loved ones, whether that be a person who is currently in Hospice care or one who was cared for by Hospice during his/her final days. In addition to the race, the entire family will enjoy live music, an Easter egg hunt, face painting, other activities for children, and shopping with local vendors.

If you've ever had a loved one in Hospice care, you know how truly caring they are.  Make plans to show how much you appreciate them on March 26.  Even if you choose not to run or walk, just being there could mean the world.
