A few years ago, Faith Evans came out with a song that says, "If I had to do it all again/ I wouldn't take away the rain/ 'cause I know it made me who I am."

Many of us think back and self-reflect and make the same statement. What a load of crap!

Here are some things I would do differently if I could go back in time:

  1. I wouldn't have purchased my home. I didn't realize the upkeep would take more free than I currently have.
  2. I wouldn't try to be what "he" needs. I'd just be myself, and if that's what he needs, so be it.  If not, so be it.
  3. I would keep in touch with my lifelong friends better.  How frequently we communicate doesn't change much.  We are still there for each other, but sometimes, I wish we had more inside jokes, could shop for each other, and so on.
  4. I would braid my dolls' hair. Now that I have a daughter who wants braids, I have to pay people. I'd much rather save that money and do it myself.
  5. I'd completely shut down to negativity. Just because something didn't work for someone else doesn't mean it won't work for me. We may have the same concept but not the same plan.

I mean, yes these things didn't make me who I am. They made particular situations for me such as frustrated, lost, lonely, broke, and apprehensive. Those are temporary states of being, not comprehensive of who I am. Am I the only one who feels this way? Is there nothing you would change about your life's experiences?
