In Years Past I Would Have Skipped the BET Awards, But Not This Year

In years past when I would attend the BET awards, I would fly to LA stay in plush hotel and enjoy good company with good friends in the record industry. When it was time for the awards ceremony, it would be an agonizing 4 - 5 hours of the day. I couldn't wait to run out of the door or avoid going in general.

The show would just go on and on with artist doing tracked shows, the taping would just have an overall unorganized appeal to it with the audience and Hip-Hop artists having no real respect for each other or the awards show.

I remember one year I got all dressed up, put on my tuxedo, jumped in a limo and arrived. As I pulled up, I got invited to a really nice dinner in Beverly Hills. I quickly blew off the awards show, and I never thought about it again until the after parties.

I didn't make the trip this year to attend this years awards show, but wow. I would have paid to attend this years show. What a performance by Shiela E., Beyoncé and Maxwell. This years event was one for the ages that's being talked about through the entire industry and the country.
