According to Fox 6, a Northflight helicopter landed on the interstate near mile marker 92.   The southbound lane is shut down, and paramedics are on the scene.

Recommended detours include the following:

  • Take Exit 97 from West Blocton.  Highway 5 will lead directly to Highway 11, which will circumvent the closure.

At this point, it is unknown if traffic will continue at Exit 89.  If so, a right turn onto Diamler Benz Blvd near MBUSI will lead back to the interstate. If not, the next opportunity to return to the interstate is Covered Bridge Rd (Exit 86).

We'll continue to keep you informed as this situation develops.
