Jade’s Family Thanksgiving 2014
I'm so glad we've survived another holiday weekend in which many of us were able to celebrate with our families and reflect on fun times.
My Thanksgiving began rather uneventfully. I'd baked a number of cakes Wednesday evening and got them delivered Thursday before heading to Aliceville, AL to enjoy dinner with my extended family. After dinner, I returned home; and as a gesture of giving the other adults "grown up" time, I volunteered to babysit.
Friday morning, I woke up to my child acting like my late great-great-grandmother.
All of my family says she looks and acts just like her. This particular morning, I had to agree. Ma Mag, as we called her, sat by a kerosene heater every day that I can remember. The skin on her legs were almost leathery.
We got out and did a little shopping before heading to my mom's for another gathering.
We have A LOT of fun when we all get together! The best moment of the night, though, was probably when our children gave our grandmother a group hug.
By Saturday evening, I'd broken away....
Hey, when you work hard, it's ok to enjoy a little bit of life! I had a GREAT night's sleep, woke up refreshed, and SMASHED the buffet! I don't think you really understand what I mean.... I ate so much stuff that didn't even go together, but the variety was too great, and ALL OF IT was good. That was the only meal I ate Sunday. (Can you tell I'm mentally planning another trip?)
All in all, I had an AWESOME holiday weekend. Managed to not gain a single pound, too. I ate everything I wanted the entire weekend but in moderation..... Well, except for Sunday. When I tell you I smashed that buffet, I SMASHED that buffet.... Oh, I said that already? Well, at least you know I ain't lying.
Anyway, that was my weekend in a nutshell. Food, family, and fun!
