If we're honest with ourselves, most of us have identified some things for which we are willing to lose our jobs (fighting back after being assaulted, confronting a superior who takes all the credit for your work, standing your ground when being disrespected, etc.), but it's a totally different to be a corrections officer involved in illegal activity with an inmate.

AL.com reports that 31-year-old Stacie Marie Gardner will serve a month in jail after pleading guilty to smuggling a cell phone into the Federal Correctional Institution in Talladega for an inmate who paid $1,474 for the transaction.

Almost $1500 for a cell phone?

The agreement must have been for the inmate to pay at least one month of Gardner's salary, just in case things went awry. She probably assumed she'd be fired but didn't think she'd have to serve time. Instead, she lost her job, was sentenced to a month jail, AND lost the money.

In the words of old people, bless her heart.
