The Alberta School of Performing Arts will host "Beautiful Things Come from Our Brokenness" Thursday, April 30, at 6 p.m. The evening will feature the healing stories of Tuscaloosa's recovery following the tornado of April 27, 2011.

Author Kim Cross will share stories from her book, What Stands in a Storm. Tuscaloosa characters from the book will share their uplifting stories and their experiences following the April 27th tornado.

ABC 33/40 Chief Meteorologist James Spann will speak at "Beautiful Things Come from Our Brokenness;" James posted the following to Facebook last night:

I hope to see many of my friends in Tuscaloosa at the Alberta School of Performing Arts Thursday evening for this special event with author Kim Cross. This will be a night of healing stories. It will be uplifting, not a downer. Instead of a day of mourning, this is an acknowledgement of how far we have come, and the good things that have happened as a result of the bad.

Speakers include storm chaser John Oldhue, rescuer Adam Watley, DCH Disaster Coordinator Andrew Lee, student Kelli Arthur, and survivor Chelsea Thrash.

A book signing and reception will follow; Barnes & Noble will donate 10% of proceeds to the Alberta School of Peforming Arts. CLICK HERE for more information or to make a donation to the school.
