Lately, there has been a number of unofficial "surveys" circulating, asking "this" or "that." This morning, I sat in on a conversation amongst women discussing cornbread and Jiffy mix.

One woman who says she's 48 years old beamed with pride as she told everyone that last night she made cornbread from scratch for the first time in her life. Most of the other women stopped in their tracks and just looked at her. She said she'd always eaten Jiffy cornbread. Here's the kicker, though: (Again, this woman is 48) She said her GRANDmother only used Jiffy!

At this point, I really paid attention. Now, I like a good piece of Jiffy every now and then. But of my grandmother saw me using Jiffy, I think she might disown me. If we had a family gathering and somebody decided to bring Jiffy cornbread, they'd better also make a pan of regular cornbread!

Granted, boxed meals and recipes certainly make our meals quicker and our lives easier. But where do YOU draw the line? Is there any food you prefer out the box? Anything you'd rather have from scratch? With the holidays soon to come, what will you be eating? Jiffy mix or regular cornbread?
