The CW reportedly just bought a TV series about hip-hop guardian angels.

The series, Straight Outta Heaven, is reportedly an hour-long drama written and executive produced by Boyz N The Hood director, John Singleton and is described as Touched By An Angel meets Ghost, with an urban twist.

Dallas Jackson, Singelton's producing partner, called the series a “faith based, hip-hop-infused guardian angel drama.”

“John and I have similar genre taste and recognized a need on network television for the underserved urban youth audience and faith-based audience,” Jackson said. “The CW is the perfect home for this new kind of hero we’ve created whose superpower is faith.”

Straight Outta Heaven will be the second collaboration between Singleton and Jackson. The film production duo also produced BET drama, Rebel. Singleton is behind the upcoming FX drama, Snowfall, which was recently picked up by the network. No word yet on when Straight Outta Heaven is slated to debut.
