We are in the middle of Black History Month.  The month America acknowledges the achievements of Black people.  I was just a kid and I remember the celebration after Lyndon B Johnson enacted the Civil Rights Act Of 1964. It prohibited employment discrimination and established the Equal Opportunity Commission. Those rights were extended to housing with the signing of the Civil Rights Act Of 1968. Neither bill met its expectations.  Those disappointments lead to the riots of the sixties. A half of century later we are still faced with the same challenges.

Blacks in the sixties faced an identity problem until one man in 1968 stood up and proudly said “Say It Loud I’m Black and I’m Proud”.  The grammar was challenged. And still is if you don’t believe me type it.  Enjoy!
