Man Killed in Wreck Following Police Chase

According to Tuscaloosa Police, 25-year-old Shadoe Steven McFarland died this afternoon as a result of injuries sustained when his vehicle collided with a blue pickup truck in the intersection of Stillman Blvd and Fosters Ferry Rd.

At approximately 3:18pm, an officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop in the 1500 block of 29th Ave. The red and white Chevy Trailblazer driven by McFarland did not come to a stop for the officer, and the officer briefly pursued the vehicle before it collided with another vehicle. The driver of that vehicle was transported to DCH Regional Medical Center with unknown injuries, and information concerning his identity is being withheld pending notification of his family.

No other parties were injured in the incident, and no other damages were reported.  The accident is being investigated by the Alabama Department of Public Safety.
